Tate Britain Hotels
Known as the oldest of the Tate gallery network in the UK, Tate Britain is situated on Millbank in central London. It first opened in 1897 as the National Gallery of British Art and has been enlarged several times since. Its permanent collection focuses on historic British art (most notably paintings by JMW Turner), as well as work by modern British artists such as Tracey Emin, Douglas Gordon and Sam Taylor-Wood. Every three years it stages a Triennial exhibition, supervised by a guest curator.
The high-speed Tate Boat runs every forty minutes during gallery opening hours (10.00 – 18.00) between Tate Britain (Millbank Millennium Pier) and Tate Modern. The boat is decorated with spots, based on paintings of similar appearance by Damien Hirst.
